Proud to have worked with The RAF Club

05/11/2018

When we were asked by Paul Murphy Architects and Gary Hornby Project Management whether we would like to assist in providing a wide range of furniture for the new extension to The RAF Club,  which was to be opened by the Queen, we jumped at the chance.

This opportunity was of particular personal interest to us as my grandfather, John Benjamin, served in the RAF as a rear gunner and was part of Tiger Force in a Lancaster Bomber during World War II. Like many men that served in the war he didn't like to talk about his time serving Queen and Country.

In August 2016 The Royal Air Force Club in Piccadilly was granted planning and listed building consent for their Grade 2 listed building to have a six storey extension built.

The new extension commenced in February 2017, and was to celebrate 100 years since the inception of the Royal Air Force and was to include new residential accommodation for members, as well as, a new business lounge, gym, training room and a staff canteen.

Futurefile Ltd provided the following furniture for this amazing space:

  • Bedroom seating
  • Magnetic glass wipe boards and flip top tables for the training room
  • Meeting tables and leather chairs for the new business lounge and meeting rooms
  • Task chairs and tall leather stools for the open plan touchdown area in the business lounge
  • Tall stools for the canteen

It was great to work with open minded people who embraced ideas, which made our role easier, we all know how difficult it can be with a tight deadline and a loose outline as the specification. We are pleased to say everything was delivered and installed before The Queen's opening.

It is an honour to show you below The Queen opening the new extension.

In loving memory of my wonderful grandad, John Benjamin.
